Dutch a cappella ensemble Wishful Singing welcomes world-famous composer and pianist, Ola Gjeilo, to join the ensemble in a programme around Wishful Singing’s renowned interpretations of Gregorian plainchant. In this inspiring programme, the group takes its audience on a spellbinding journey through more than a 1000 years of music. Beginning with Marian inspired chant and ending in close harmony arrangements and beautiful Scandinavian folk music, the heart of the programme includes texts and music by the twelfth century philosopher, theologian, composer and poet, Hildegard von Bingen, and Gregorian-inspired pieces such as Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas – all as renowned guest Gjeilo creates an ‘aurora borealis’ of improvisatory piano accompaniment around Wishful Singing’s mesmerising harmonies.
